Tree Health Assessment & Disease Diagnosis β Toledo, Ohio
Not sure if your tree is sick, dying, or dangerous? We'll give you an honest assessment β free of charge across all of Northwest Ohio.
Catch Problems Before They Become Expensive
Most tree problems start internally and aren't visible to the untrained eye until significant damage is already done. Early diagnosis saves money β treatment is almost always cheaper than a complex, hazardous tree removal.
In Northwest Ohio, we face specific tree disease challenges. The Emerald Ash Borer has devastated ash populations in Lucas and Wood County. Oak wilt remains a high risk in summer months. We also regularly treat Dutch elm disease and root rot caused by Toledo's clay-heavy soil and high water tables in low-lying areas near the Maumee River. We know what to look for and how to fix it.
Common Tree Problems We See in the Toledo Area
Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)
The most destructive tree pest in Northwest Ohio history. If you have ash trees in Toledo, Perrysburg, Sylvania, or anywhere in Lucas or Wood County, they need to be assessed. EAB kills untreated ash trees within 3-5 years.
Oak Wilt
A fast-moving fungal disease that can kill a red oak in a single season. Never trim oaks in Toledo between April and October β open cuts are entry points for the fungus.
Dutch Elm Disease
Elm trees across NW Ohio are still vulnerable. Watch for yellowing leaves, branch dieback, and wilting in summer.
Root Rot (Armillaria)
Common in Toledo's wet, clay-heavy soil. Mushrooms at the base of a tree, crown dieback, and loose bark are warning signs.
Fire Blight
Affects fruit trees, crabapples, and ornamentals. Branches look burned, leaves curl and turn black.
Hypoxylon Canker
Affects stressed trees β particularly oaks and maples. Caused by drought or storm damage creating entry points for this opportunistic fungus.
